We provide a family for children ages 10 to 18. Six to eight boys or girls live in each single-family home with a married couple called Family-Teachers®. In these homes, youth learn social and independent-living skills that help them find success in school and in their community.

Southlawn Palms is a subsidized, project-based, 65 unit apartment community with 1-3 bedroom units.

We have created a fun, entertaining, and nonthreatening environment for our young patients. Our reception area has an interactive children’s area, the treatment rooms are private and spacious allowing for parent and siblings to be present if you choose. We hold monthly cavity free contests and have a treasure box filled with toys for the children to select. Video entertainment is available for our young patients in all rooms. The Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program provides monthly payments to adults and children with a disability or blindness and who have income and resources below specified amounts. SSI payments can also be made to people 65 and older without disabilities who meet the financial limits. People who have worked long enough may also qualify to receive Social Security disability or retirement benefits as well as SSI.

The Center is a private, non-profit community focal point for residents of Newport County and surrounding communities where older persons can come together for services and/or activities which enhance their dignity, reflect their experience and skills, support their independence, encourage their involvement in and with the Center and the community, and respond to their diverse needs and interests. The vision of MHCA of RI, Inc., is to provide peer support, to inform and educate people about the stigma of mental illness and to positively affect the lives of our fellow consumes through legislative action and other advocacy campaigns.
