Powerful Tools for Caregivers Catholic Social Services of RI has trained 16 new Class Leaders who are certified to teach the Powerful Tools for Caregivers Program. The six week classes (1.5 hours each week) provide a self-care education program for family caregivers. The Powerful Tools for Caregivers program will provide you with tools and strategies to better handle the unique caregiver challenges you face. Caregivers who have completed the program have shown improvement in the following areas: • Self-Care Behaviors: (e.g. increased exercise, relaxation and medical check-ups) • Management of Emotions: (reduced guilt, anger, and depression) • Self-Efficacy: (increased confidence in coping with caregiving demands) • Use of Community Resources: (increased utilization of local services) If you would like to attend a Powerful Tools Program please call the agency number listed for the location and time that works for you. The Rose Island Foundation is a 501(c) (3) tax-exempt organization whose mission is to preserve the historic and environmental integrity of Rose Island, to maintain and operate its lighthouse and to provide education and public access for all people. Rose Island is about 18 acres in size. It consists of a wildlife refuge, the lighthouse, and the Fort Hamilton Barracks. Between March 1 and August 15 public access around the perimeter of Rose Island is restricted for nesting birds. In the winter, from late October to early April, you can often see harbor seals resting on Citing Rock on the east side of Rose Island, which is surrounded by extensive underwater eel grass beds. A mile offshore, beyond the reach of Newport’s utility lines and services, the Rose Island Lighthouse stands as an independent, energy-efficient building that was home to keepers and their families for over a hundred years. After the Newport Bridge was built the Light Station was abandoned as an aid to navigation. For the next 14 years it fell victim to scavengers, vandals and the weather. In 1984, volunteers of the Rose Island Lighthouse Foundation restored it to its 1912 appearance, installing environmentally sensitive utilities for electricity, water, sewer, and heat. On August 7, 1993, after the funds had been raised to pay all the restoration bills, the beacon was joyously relit. Rose Island Light is once again listed on today's charts as a private aid to navigation. The Lighthouse is also listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Visitors of all ages can learn about the Lighthouse’s history and can experience, first-hand, the keeper’s self-sufficient, resourceful way of life...learning that lasts a lifetime.

Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) is available for eligible low-income households through September 30, 2023, or until funds are exhausted. The program helps eligible low-income households afford and maintain access to drinking water and wastewater services through federal grants. One-time payments are made directly to the household’s utility company. LIHWAP can help with: reconnection of water services prevention of disconnection past-due and current water or wastewater balances Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is a seasonal program from October 1st to May 1st. LIHEAP helps households stay warm in the winter through programs that reduce the risk of health and safety problems that arise from unsafe heating practices. Per season, a one-time supplemental grant is sent directly to vendors who then credit the client’s account for the amount specified. Eligible clients also qualify for a reduced electric rate.

Assisted Daily Living, Inc. provides clients with a wide array of services designed to ensure superior patient care in the familiar comfort of home, often providing a happier and more affordable alternative to nursing, or assisted living facilities. Services can be arranged for a few hours a week or around the clock. ADL begins by reviewing the specific needs of the client through discussions with family members, as well as the care recipient's doctor, social workers or therapists. A customized program of care is developed to manage the client's daily needs. ADL will match the clients needs to the best possible caregiver, based on both professional experience and on ability characteristics. THERAPIST'S - PT, OT, ST: Therapists including physical therapists, occupational and speech therapists assist in the rehabilitation of those with physical injuries or disease. Restoration of mobility, strength, dexterity, balance and communication skills is often the purpose for therapy. Helping individuals who are disabled by physical injuries or disease to regain maximum function with activities of daily living is always a main priority.

General Outpatient programs utilize scheduled individual and group counseling sessions and drug/alcohol testing to assist patients in identifying and maintaining healthy life choices Intensive Outpatient Program The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at CODAC is an ideal opportunity for those individuals who find they have a need for increased access to support and treatment. IOP is approximately 8 weeks, and consists of individual and group sessions totaling a minimum 9 hours per week. IOPs may be utilized at any point along the treatment or recovery cycle and based on level of therapeutic need. If you are interested in this level of care speak with your CODAC provider. General Outpatient Services General Outpatient Programs are for individuals interested in treatment for Substance Use Disorder symptoms. CODAC counselors also work with the patient to integrate recovery support services in their treatment. We will to continue working with patients who have met their initial goals and want to maintain and strengthen their recovery. CODAC counselors work closely with their patients to achieve individual goals and/or meet the requirements of the referring authority. Most importantly, our programs are designed to assist individuals to develop and integrate a recovery oriented lifestyle that includes family, friends, health, wellness, joy and productivity. All CODAC programs emphasize the value recovery oriented lifestyle benefits and encouraged strongly encourage the integration of family members into the treatment and recovery process.
