Since 2001, Mount Pleasant Academy (MPA) has established itself as a premiere facility for children who need extra support for their educational and emotional development. Mount Pleasant Academy provides cutting-edge education and therapeutic services for its children and their families. By combining current research findings, state-of-the-art teaching and multisensory strategies, and a fully-integrated team of educators, occupational therapists, speech/language therapists, children’s mental health specialists, and family support workers, we can provide children at MPA comprehensive services that surpass those available in a public school setting.

One of the core functions of the Ocean State Center for Independent Living is assisting people with disabilities to move out of nursing homes and other institutions into the independent living arrangement of their choice, as well as helping to prevent people with disabilities from entering these institutions. The Ocean State Center for Independent Living (OSCIL), a non-residential, non-profit organization, can help seniors and adults with disabilities who are interested in transitioning from nursing facilities back into the community—either moving back to their own home or apartment or to the home of a relative or friend. OSCIL’s Community Living Option Program has been assisting persons with disabilities to move from a nursing home setting to a less restrictive environment for many years. OSCIL staff is able to work with each individual to identify their specific needs, help secure appropriate housing, establish community connections and obtain support services—all necessary for a safe and sustainable transition. Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) provides advocacy and support services to all victims of crime. VOCA assesses victims’ situations and helps identify next steps. The program links you with resources to provide you with on-going or short-term support to address any needs related to having survived a crime. VOCA can access the criminal justice system if appropriate and victims’ compensation fund if eligible.

YPI is committed to building a strong and vocal community of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQQ) youth and their allies to ensure that they are heard and accepted as members and leaders in our community. Youth, ages 13-23, are encouraged to hang out in YPIs Drop-In Center, participate in activities and programming, or use other services such as tutoring or support services. YPI’s drop-in center is a hang out space for LGBTQQ young people and their allies. Play some games, eat a healthy meal, get support and make new friends in a welcoming environment! There’s something different happening every day so come take a dance class, participate in a workshop, do yoga or talk about changing the world. Or just hang out! Hall Manor is a subsidized housing unit 62+, handicapped or disabled.

Services: Provides outpatient rehabilitation programs to people of all ages with a wide range of functional disabilities caused by accident, illness, or developmental delay. Programs offered are day school program for children ages 3 - 21, with language/learning disorders and brain injury; brain injury day treatment program for adult clients; comprehensive outpatient program and vocational rehabilitation services. Offers evaluation and treatment in audiology, speech/language therapy, special education, occupational/physical therapy, psychological/social services and vocational training. Special features include non-commercial advice on hearing aids, augmentative communication systems, group treatment services, parent workshops, support groups and consult services. Services: Empowers women to become economically self-sufficient and prosperous through entrepreneurship. Focuses on improving access to capital and credit for aspiring and existing women business owners. Offers women the opportunity to build their business skills, further their financial acumen and develop a lifetime of key resources and contacts.

Public elementary school

Welcome House offers a community soup kitchen every weekday, located in the main facility at 8 North Road in Peace Dale, RI. All individuals and families in need are welcome to join for lunch.

FSRI's EI team includes educators, social workers, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, nutritionists, and interpreters. A link between women and government to promote equity for women in Rhode Island. Legislatively mandated to advise the Governor and General Assembly in areas affecting the status of women in the state; serves as a referral service between women of the state and human service agencies.

SHIP Counseling:The Rhode Island Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) is part of a national partnership to help consumers make informed healthcare choices. Tri-County SHIP counselors provide one-to-one, unbiased counseling to seniors, adults with disabilities, families, and caregivers. The program is designed to help seniors and adults with disabilities understand healthcare cost and coverage options. Tri-County SHIP counselors discuss Medicare Part A and B, Medicare Part D, supplemental insurance, Medicare Advantage plans and other health insurance options with their clients. Our counselors also assist beneficiaries in making the most appropriate choice for their healthcare needs.

The Shalom affordable housing complex, which includes Shalom and Shalom II Apartments, offers supportive living with services for seniors and the mobility impaired.

Services: 120 bed, licensed nursing facility for men and women providing extensive nursing care, physical, occupational, speech and recreational therapies, activities, dental services, social services, services for stroke patients and patients with Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease, Alzheimer's disease, ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and osteoporosis.
