The UCP Rhode Island Children & Family Services program provides services to children with disabilities and their families under Rhode Island's Home Based Therapeutic Services Program (HBTS). Medicaid eligible children (up to age 21) are provided comprehensive periodic evaluations to supplement the treatment of various medical conditions. Works with families to develop service plans for their children and assists the families to secure HBTS funding. Once a plan is approved, UCPRI provides case management and services, therapies, and training for the child and family. The object is to apply individualized services that permit the child to live at home and take an active part in school and community. UCPRI�s services may help relieve some of the financial strains that make raising a child with disabilities so stressful to both the family and child. Other Children & Family Services:

• CAP (Community Activities Project) provides financial support enabling children with disabilities to participate in community and recreational activities.

Provides information, referral and advocacy to families with children who have special needs. UCPRI will assist families in identifying their needs (home health care, learning, recreation) and work with them to secure funding. Emergency Food Pantry Outreach Services are offered to the senior (60+) and disabled adult population of Scituate to assist with applications for financial and benefit assistance, including SNAP (Food Stamps), Fuel Assistance, Housing, and Medical Insurance, as well as information or referral to Meals on Wheels and the Food Pantry.

Shelter Policies: All calls for service must be filed through the Warren Police Department. Non-emergency calls and inquiries may be made to the Warren Animal Shelter during normal business hours. The Warren Animal Shelter impounds stray dogs and sick or injured cats ONLY. Persons wishing to surrender an animal must contact a private humane agency (ie: RISPCA, Providence Animal Rescue League, Potter League, etc.)

In response to the critical need for assessment and treatment of potentially abused children, Hasbro Children's Hospital has instituted the Lawrence A. Aubin, Sr. Child Protection Program. The program provides services for children who may have been victims of sexual, physical or emotional abuse, neglect or factitious disorders (medical child abuse).

The Misquamicut Fire Department provides fire safety and fire rescue services to the town of Westerly. It is one of seven different fire companies within the town.

The RIde Program is for people with disabilities that prevent the use of fixed-route buses, RIPTA offers paratransit service through the RIde Program, as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). ADA Paratransit provides door to door service and requires advance reservations. RIde is a shared ride service so your trip time may not be scheduled at the exact time you request. A RIde Customer Service Agent will work with you to find a time that works. You may need to call back later to find out the time your trip is scheduled. Transportation to anywhere in RI, not limited to appointments, clients can also get transportation to non medical locations such as stores, mall, movies, events, etc. The service area reaches as far as Target in Seekonk and Market Basket in Attleboro. Available to anyone with a disability, children under 13 years old are not allowed to ride alone.
