OSCIL offers comprehensive independent living assessment services as requested by private individuals, vendors, Medicaid and State agencies. Comprehensive assessments provide recommendations for specialized equipment, home modifications and/or independent living services that are required for the consumer to achieve goals for independence in the home and community. OSCIL has a fee-for-service program to provide assessments. We are currently working with consumers on RI Medicaid, Neighborhood Health Plan’s Integrity Program and the Office of Rehabilitation Services (ORS). Medicaid/NHP assessments are typically done to provide justification for specialized equipment covered by the consumer’s insurance. Some examples would include, ramps, stairlifts, VPLs, and specialized bathroom equipment. Consumer’s must be on a participating insurance plan to receive the assessment; if they are on another insurance plan OSCIL will refer the consumer to the correct process for assessment. OSCIL also completes assessments for home modifications funded by the Office of Rehabilitation Services (ORS). First ORS will send a referral requesting the Home Modification Assessments, and then OSCIL staff will complete a full assessment to recommend any home modification to increase accessibility and send a report of the findings to ORS.

The Animal Control Department provides shelter to stray animals and attempts to return animals to their owners and place abandoned domestic animals in good homes. The officers may also arrange for the euthanization of animals that are sick or seriously injured.

Family Visiting Program offers for Rhode Island families. Family Visiting is provided to pregnant women and families with children up to age four. We visit you anywhere you would like to meet and connect you with family support services and resources.

Friends of the Bristol Animal Shelter is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization working to supplement the efforts of the Town of Bristol, RI's no-kill Animal Care and Adoption Center. Assists in providing a safe environment and emergency veterinary funding for the animals in their care until they find their forever homes.

Services: The official planning and advisory body created to promote and increase opportunities and alternatives for persons, ages birth to elderly, with developmental disabilities and their families. The overall purpose of the council is to advocate on behalf of persons with developmental disabilities so that they have access to a comprehensive coordinated system that offers a variety of services. The Council does not provide direct services. Source of income: Federal funds

Middletown Emergency Management Agency implements policies related to hazard mitigation and emergency management programs and activities. Region 7: South County Regional Coalition Task Force The substance abuse task force identifies and addressed the issue of substance abuse in the city and its mission is to develop, implement, and advocate for effective community-based prevention initiatives.

Services: 120 bed, licensed nursing facility for men and women providing extensive nursing care, physical, occupational, speech and recreational therapies, activities, dental services, social services, services for stroke patients and patients with Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease, Alzheimer's disease, ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and osteoporosis. Daily chapel services.

CCAP’s Employment, Training, and Education Programs assist the youth of Rhode Island ages 14 – 24 through free education, training programs, work readiness workshops, and job placement assistance. They provide a full range of services to youth enrolled in-school and out-of-school. All enrollees are connected with a case manager to assist them in their education or employment goals throughout the program. Cash incentives are given to those who qualify. There are four Youth Centers throughout the state.

N - Needle exchange to reduce the risk of transmitting HIV and other comminicable diseases. C - Counseling on reducing risk, HIV testing, following through on medical care, and substance abuse treatment. O - Outreach into the community to identify potential clients for the E.N.C.O.RE program. RE - Referral to agencies and programs by request from the client.

In July of 2017, the Family Caregiver Alliance of Rhode Island became incorporated and obtained 501(c)(3) status as a subsidiary under the United Way of Rhode Island (UWRI), the State’s lead partner and operator of the Point. FCARI maintains its independence from UWRI, but utilizes the benefits of non-profit status through UWRI. With our partners, FCARI has become an advocate for caregiving across the lifespan throughout Rhode Island. Although we have accomplished so much, a large percent of our family caregivers still do not receive the assistance they might need and qualify for within our current framework. FCARI and our community partners see this as an area we can work upon, to improve connection and access to services and resources. The Family Caregiver Alliance of Rhode Island, in partnership with the Office of Healthy Aging, hopes to bridge this gap with our groundbreaking 2020 RI State Plan for Family Caregivers. Our State Plan aims to expand and implement various programs and partnerships to strengthen FCARI leadership, and ensure that we can secure future funding for programs that will help our caregivers. Through 2023, FCARI and our partners will continue to ensure our work is responsive to Rhode Islander’s by being supportive and present in the community, educating ourselves regarding issues caregivers are grappling with, and most importantly, ensuring equitable access to resources and advocacy for all of our caregivers.

Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Supplemental Feeding and Nutrition Program provides food vouchers, allowing them to purchase milk, eggs, cheese, juice and iron fortified cereals and formula. The WIC coordinator provides nutrition education and counseling to all program participants on a monthly basis.

Higher Ground International is a forward thinking and culturally grounded inter-generational social service NGO that advocates and provides programs for West African Immigrants, Refugees and Marginalized Communities in Rhode Island and Rural Villages in Liberia, West Africa.

Best Buddies Leadership Development programs educate and empower people with and without IDD to become leaders, public speakers and advocates. Best Buddies passionately believes that its program participants can lead the effort within their community and beyond to build a more inclusive world for people with IDD. Leadership Ambassadors offers people with and without IDD the opportunity to gain the public speaking skills, self-esteem and confidence needed to successfully advocate for themselves, their peers and Best Buddies in communities, workplaces and government. Leadership Promoters empowers youth to become advocates for people with IDD and help open new Best Buddies chapters and programs by organizing special events that promote awareness to the disability rights movement.

The Office of Black Catholic Ministry in the Diocese of Providence will continue its work of building a solid foundation for leadership with the Diaspora of Black Catholics throughout Rhode Island by reaching out to inform, educate and share its rich spiritual heritage with the whole church.

CODAC offers psychiatric and mental health services at all of their locations. After an initial intake screening you may be referred to an on-site psychiatric practitioner for further evaluation and treatment. Individualized treatment and recovery plans might include medication management supervised by the psychiatric practitioner and ongoing co-occurring counseling with clinical staff.

The Norman Bird Sanctuary constitutes the largest area of preserved open space in Newport County.
