The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, across the United States. The Lifeline is comprised of a national network of over 200 local crisis centers, combining custom local care and resources with national standards and best practices. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is funded by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and administered by Vibrant Emotional Health. Support and advocacy for the blind. Monthly meetings focus mainly on advocacy activities such as legislative and public policy development and public education. However, peer support for individuals is available and provided as needed. Purpose of the group is to foster positive attitudes towards blindness for both the blind and sighted communities. Chapters The Greater Providence Chapter of the NFB of RI meets on the second Saturday of each month, except for the months of July and October from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and they are preceded by a social half hour at 10 Office Parkway, in East Providence. For more information, please contact the Greater Providence Chapter. The Mount Hope Chapter of the NFB of RI meets on the third Thursday of each month, except for October and December from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, preceded by a social half hour. Meetings are held at the Rogers Free Library, located at 525 Hope Street, in Bristol. Those using the Ride program should ask to be dropped off and picked up at the Thames Street entrance, located in the back of the building. Refugee Resettlement Services: In affiliation with Migration & Refugee Services (MRS) of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), staff provides refugee resettlement services. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence has been collaborating with the USCCB/MRS for nearly 30 years in their humanitarian mission of the resettlement of refugees in the United States. This program is appropriate for anyone in need of immigration services and refugee resettlement casework and is available in multiple languages including: English, Spanish, French, Tigrini and Amharic. The application process varies depending on the immigration status of the individual and application guidelines vary depending on the immigration status. There are fees required by the Department of Homeland Security. In addition, the diocesan office has a fee schedule for the services provided. The financial situation of the client is considered; fees are based on the individual’s income, and payment plans are available.

Children’s Personal Assistance Services and Support (PASS): consumer-directed program designed to support children with special health care needs. PASS provides families with the opportunity to take the lead role in directing the services received by their child. The family-centered approach empowers families and individuals to foster independence, support family care giving and decision making, respect family choices and values, and build on individual strengths. Respite Program: a consumer-driven program designed to enhance the quality of life for children with special needs and their families. The provision of Respite enables families to receive support in the delivery of care for their children. Children’s Home-Based Therapeutic Services (HBTS): clinically directed, specialized health services that are designed to meet the individual needs of children diagnosed with moderate to severe physical, developmental, behavioral or emotional conditions. Addresses behavioral concerns and the development of functional, social and communication skills. The HBTS Team is comprised of the parent(s), a clinical supervisor, a home based therapist, a family service coordinator, and when indicated specialty (treatment consultants, speech therapy, physical therapy, and/or occupational therapy). Together, the HBTS Team develops an individualized treatment plan with measurable goals and objectives. Additionally, clinical support and training is provided on a continuous basis to the home based therapist and family.
