Disability Determination Services (DDS) is a unit within the Office of Rehabilitation Services. DDS is the state agency which determines the medical eligibility of Rhode Island residents (children and adults) who have applied for cash benefits under the disability programs administered by the Social Security Administration (SSA). The two SSA disability programs are Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) (Title II) and Supplementary Security Income (SSI) (Title XVI). The DDS is responsible for collecting medical evidence of record and determining whether the claimant is disabled and/or blind as defined by the Social Security Act.
Medical, psychological, and audiological examinations and tests are used to better understand the disability and needs for specific types of services.

Services: Provides immediate emergency relief assistance to families suffering losses caused by disasters. Other services include counseling, financial assistance and world wide communication programs for military families and veterans. In addition to emergency response, the American Red Cross also provides educational programs designed to help people prepare for and prevent emergencies with Health and Safety programs in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillation (A.E.D.); water safety swimming training; health training for special health projects such as AIDS education. Volunteer community services include the training and placement of volunteers in all service area mentioned above.

The Office of the Attorney General Consumer Protection Unit investigates and mediates consumer complaints concerning unfair and unlawful business practices and misleading advertising arising out of alleged violations of the Deceptive Trade Practices Act. If groups of people are victimized by a deceptive trade practice, this office may file in the Superior Court a civil investigative demand, which is a formal investigation. In appropriate cases, a lawsuit to stop the illegal business practice may be initiated.
Apart from carrying out its statutory responsibilities, the Unit also provides information and referral services to the general public. Consumers are directed to the appropriate governmental or private agencies for help in answering specialized questions or resolving disputes that are not within the Unit's jurisdiction.

13 room home for community based program is located on the periphery of Pawtucket's business district. The primary objective is to provide residential services for adolescent males.
As members of the community, the residents are afforded the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational, recreational and cultural programs. All residents attend school locally with staff providing supplementary and remedial academic assistance.
The program provides a clinican licensed at the independent level which may include a licensed psychologist, a licensed mental health professional, a licensed independent social worker or a licensed marriage and family therapist. The clinician will have weekly individual and group contact with each resident and provide consultation to staff, DCYF caseworkers and the resident's parent or guardian. Family therapy will also be provided when appropriate. The clinician will also provide consultation with other mental health professionals, school personnel and assist with crisis intervention while making appropriate treatment referrals.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors Rhode Island is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families stay in their homes through a variety of ways, primarily by providing necessary home repairs and modifications.
NHN RI offers services including building wheelchair ramps, painting houses indoor or out, repairing porches or steps, patching roofs, and fixing windows. All of these can make real differences to neighbors in need. Necessary home repairs are often left undone when people are faced with the need to stretch their paycheck, disability check, or Social Security income. In some cases, completing this work is the only way people are able to stay in their homes and remain independent.
