The Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS) serves as “the principal agency of the executive branch of state government” (R.I.G.L. §42-7.2-2) responsible for managing the departments of: Health (RIDOH); Human Services (DHS); Office of Healthy Aging (OHA); Office of Veterans Services (VETS); Children, Youth and Families (DCYF); and Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals (BHDDH). EOHHS is also designated as the single State agency to administer the Medicaid program in Rhode Island.

The group researches and publishes comprehensive town-by-town statistics on the well-being of County children, convenes monthly workshops for doctors and mental health professionals who care for children with behavioral health problems and developmental disabilities, promotes emotional literacy among 2nd graders through an annual bookmark design contest, organizes a holiday gift drive for teens with Casey's Grill & Bar in Wakefield and offers a free Behavioral Health directory and other resources on a regularly-updated website.

Programs that provide assistance in the form of labor and supplies to help people improve the energy efficiency of their homes and protect them from the elements. The program provides ceiling insulation, attic venting, double glazed windows, weather-stripping, minor housing envelope repairs, low-flow showerheads, evaporative cooler vent covers, water heater blankets, pipe wrap, duct wrap, switch and outlet gaskets, caulking, and other related energy conservation measures. Weatherization programs may have age, income, disability or other eligibility requirements.

A comprehensive, State licensed adult day care program to provide medical, social and rehabilitative services to chronically impaired elders and disabled adults. Services include: nursing supervision, personal care, counseling, caregivers support/respite, exercises, activities, specialized therapies and nutrition. The Adult Day Services Program provides an array of supportive services designed to upgrade and increase the activities of daily living for older persons dependent upon continual family support and supervision. The major goal of the program is to reduce the potential for institutionalization of dependent elderly individuals otherwise at risk, and to increase their quality of life through the enhancement of their activities of daily living. The program provides supervised supportive care for frail elderly persons to meet the needs of the functionally impaired individual. The program also provides respite and emotional support to family caregivers. Income Source: Towns of South Kingstown, Narragansett, R I Department of Elderly Affairs, R.I. Department of Human Services, client fees and private contributions.

Provide support and training to deaf individuals with diverse disabilities. The philosophy of our program is to provide social, habilitation and employment services to deaf people with diverse disabilities and others with unique communication needs in an independence and empowerment-based model that facilitates living, learning and working successfully as integrated members of the community. Services are concentrated in four areas: Day Program, Residential Program, Employment Services (training, internship, job coaching, paid employment) and Community Outreach/Involvement, which includes attending cultural and civic events, volunteering with neighborhood clean-up and enhancement projects, and working with staff at Fairs and Conventions to promote Corliss services and activities to parents, schools, businesses and public agencies.

Services: Houses 29 families and 8 women daily. Shelter stays are limited to 90 days but can be renewed based on progress demonstrated by participants or impending permanent housing. Case managers assist participants with healthcare, employment and establishing permanent housing. Help also available for: mental health issues, addiction, developmental delays in children, parenting and domestic violence. Case managers access services directly through Family Resources Community Action Program or collaborative agreements with other local non profit organizations.

Heritage Village includes three buildings for seniors and six for families. All of the apartments have Section 8 rental assistance which allows each household to predictably pay 30% of its income for rent because the rental subsidies are ‘project-based’ meaning they accompany the property rather than a current resident guaranteeing the subsidy’s availability for future households. Thundermist runs school-based health centers to provide primary care services to students in schools, during the school day. Services at The Health Hut include: physical exams (including school and sports physicals), immunizations, sick visits, treatment of minor injuries, health education, chronic care management (i.e. asthma, diabetes), and dental services-including examinations and hygiene services. School-based health centers work closely with school personnel including principals, school nurse teachers, and student support staff. They do not take the place, or do the job of, the school nurse teacher. School-based health centers are helpful to parents because: It is often difficult to get time off of work to take a child to the doctor. Many families face transportation, language, or financial barriers in traditional health care settings. Adolescents often do not seek out health care because of embarrassment. Adolescence is an important time to have access to a trusted health provider.

MAE offers case management to those individuals that need help navigating the system and other programs. Glenark Landing Apartments is 89 apartments of affordable units, that is, geared to people earning no more than 60 percent of area median income. There are one, two, and three bedroom apartments to accommodate different family sizes; a laundry room; and a Community Room and Kitchen that all residents can enjoy.

The Bridge at Cherry Hill offers the care and support needed by seniors who are unable to live alone yet do not require the services of skilled nursing. Resort-style community provides private apartments for residents and assistance with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing and medication management.
