Program provides low-interest loans to income eligible homeowners to assist them in making needed improvements to their homes. The program is available for single to three family owner occupied dwellings. Typical improvements include roofs, vinyl siding, windows, doors and gutters.

The HOPE Initiative is a first-in-the-nation statewide collaboration between law enforcement and substance use professionals to help guide those in need toward recovery. The HOPE (Heroin – Opioid Prevention Effort) Initiative is the first statewide program that engages law enforcement personnel in a proactive outreach strategy to combat the opioid overdose epidemic. The HOPE Initiative partners substance use professionals and members of law enforcement with the mission of reaching out to those who are at risk of overdosing to encourage them to be assessed and treated.

Amicable Church hosts Sunday School for Pre-K to 12th Grade, and also singing and acting programs of C.O.R.E. (Creative Outreach Reinventing Expression), an after school arts program. Gloria Crist teaches acting classes and Vaughn Bryner teaches vocal performance classes as a part of this program.

North Kingstown Animal Control and shelter is run by the North Kingstown Police Department. Villa Excelsior Apartments have Section 8 contract rents – you must go to the office to fill out these applications in order to get on the wait lists. But we have a few apartments that are Low Income Housing Tax Credit Apartments with no rental subsidy. These units (1 & 2 br) are on West Ave in Pawtucket and (2br & 3br) are on Gilmore & Bridgham Streets in Providence. There are no other locations. They have fenced yards and 24 hour emergency maintenance services. No pets allowed. Rents start at $590 with no utilities included. You must have a minimum income of $1,900 per month in order to apply.

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) provides IRS-trained and certified tax professionals to provide tax-preparation services to clients. VITA volunteers provide timely, quality, and free tax preparation for low to moderate-income individuals and families. Volunteers not only prepare tax returns but simultaneously provide education to clients about their returns and eligible tax credits.

Westbay offers several programs to make homes safe, healthy, and energy-efficient. Appliance Management Program (AMP) AMP helps clients use less electricity and water. The program provides energy-saving lightbulbs, faucet aerators, and appliances. AMP is funded by National Grid. Heating System Replacement Program The Heating System Replacement Program repairs or replaces old, broken, or inefficient home heating systems. This program is available for owner-occupied buildings only.

The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) empowers individuals and organizations to practice ethical fundraising through professional education, networking, research and advocacy. Professional Development sessions – offered throughout the year on a variety of fundraising topics geared toward both new and seasoned professionals. Networking Breakfasts – regularly scheduled networking breakfasts offer an opportunity to meet other professionals, share information and make valued connections; National Philanthropy Day – Every November, AFP-RI hosts Rhode Island’s premier event celebrating philanthropy with nearly 500 people attending; Conference – The Chapter hosts a fundraising conference including educational tracks for all levels of experience, nationally recognized keynote speakers and great networking with other professionals. OSCIL’s knowledgeable staff can assist consumer’s in setting goals for self-sufficiency in the home. Centers for Independent Living teach a wide range of skills needed to live independently and manage life with a disability. Skills training is available to persons with disabilities in almost any topic where there is a need for more independence. CILs work with individuals to increase their skills which can help them gain more control of their lives. Skills training can include basic everyday responsibilities such as: self-care, meal preparation, budgeting, and arranging transportation. It also can address housing needs, teaching individuals the importance of self-advocacy, one’s need for accommodations and/or rights in the community. ***Life skills training is goal directed and does not involve long-term case management or therapeutic intervention. As part of OSCIL’s mission to provide outreach, education and opportunities for peer support, OSCIL offers Lunch and Learn workshops highlighting various solutions that can increase access in your home and community.
