Best Buddies Friendship programs build one-to-one friendships between people with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), offering social mentoring while improving the quality of life and level of inclusion for a population that is often isolated and excluded. Through their participation, people with IDD form meaningful connections with their peers, gain self-confidence and self-esteem, and share interests, experiences and activities that many other individuals enjoy. They offer e-Buddies: a safe place online to develop one-to-one friendships between people with and without IDD. By joining e-Buddies, participants become more comfortable using technology to communicate with friends, gain computer literacy skills, and are better equipped to socialize online in the future.

The North Kingstown Animal Control Division is an arm of the Operations Division assisting patrol officers with all complaints involving domestic and wildlife animals (e.g., sick / rabid raccoon or skunk). Behavioral Medicine Clinical Services assists adult outpatients with the management of chronic medical conditions. Treatment is tailored to individual needs. Psychologists are specially trained to help modify behavioral or lifestyle factors which may perpetuate or exacerbate the symptoms of particular medical conditions. A Bed for Every Child: The Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless partners with public schools to assist students whose families are at risk of becoming homeless by providing beds, pillows and linens to children going without.

A group of residents affected by foreclosure who work together to put an end to foreclosure and foreclosure-related evictions. The program provides direct outreach and case management to residents of foreclosed properties through door knocking, provide support and legal advice to individuals, propose legislation to protect residents and sanction foreclosing banks and lenders, and utilize direct action to keep people in their homes.

Assisted Daily Living, Inc. provides clients with a wide array of services designed to ensure superior patient care in the familiar comfort of home, often providing a happier and more affordable alternative to nursing, or assisted living facilities. Services can be arranged for a few hours a week or around the clock. ADL begins by reviewing the specific needs of the client through discussions with family members, as well as the care recipient's doctor, social workers or therapists. A customized program of care is developed to manage the client's daily needs. ADL will match the clients needs to the best possible caregiver, based on both professional experience and on ability characteristics. THERAPIST'S - PT, OT, ST: Therapists including physical therapists, occupational and speech therapists assist in the rehabilitation of those with physical injuries or disease. Restoration of mobility, strength, dexterity, balance and communication skills is often the purpose for therapy. Helping individuals who are disabled by physical injuries or disease to regain maximum function with activities of daily living is always a main priority.

The Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program provides monthly payments to adults and children with a disability or blindness and who have income and resources below specified amounts. SSI payments can also be made to people 65 and older without disabilities who meet the financial limits. People who have worked long enough may also qualify to receive Social Security disability or retirement benefits as well as SSI.

Volunteer at one or more of 50 plus Community Partners in a myriad of meaningful opportunities or internally at SRIV making a difference in some of the following ways:

• Independent Aging Services Program: Transport assistance for homebound seniors or disabled adults to healthcare appointments, pharmacies, grocery stores and housing appointments; Delivery of food Meals on Wheels and/or farmers’ markets (or placement at a food pantry); Grocery shopping and delivery for a senior client; Companionship/visitation for a home bound older senior and/or respite care for their full-time caregiver; Minor home repairs (very minor—larger jobs are referred to partner agencies), fall clean ups and snow removal for walkways for senior safety.

The Commissioner of Postsecondary Education is the state’s higher education executive officer. In fulfilling this role, the Commissioner for Postsecondary Education works closely with the presidents of the state higher education institutions to determine the benefits or disadvantages of proposed new programs, departments, division, courses of study within the scope and role adopted by the Council on Postsecondary Education and in developing tables of organization. The presidents also prepare and submit budgets to the Council on Postsecondary Education and the Board of Education for approval, and are responsible for the general management of property. People who have been laid off, who aren’t sure how to navigate unemployment, who may not know how to bridge the gap until they start receiving unemployment checks, are all encouraged to call during their extended hours or video conference via Zoom. Financial Coaching Crash Course: We are offering a Crash Course version of our coaching program for those impacted by COVID-19. This program is consolidated into a 3-month version of our normal, yearlong program with the same credit builder loan component.
