Grand Islander Center is located on Aquidneck Island. The mission of the RISPCA is to protect and advocate for the rights and welfare of animals through legal, educational, legislative and investigative means. They provide adoption and rehoming services, veterinary care, humane education, training support and pet owner assistance programs. The Rhode Island SPCA is also the only organization in the state that can legally investigate and prosecute cases of animal cruelty and neglect. They take an active role in legislative matters concerning the welfare of all animals in our state.

Providence Public High School

The Rhode Island Coordinated Entry System (CES) is a partnership of all of the homeless providers in the state and is initiative of the Rhode Island Continuum of Care. The day to day operations of this program are led by the Rhode Island Coalition for the Homeless including the call center and shelter and housing placement. Crossroads Rhode Island provides diversion assessments. CES is a standardized assessment and referral process that helps rapidly end each household's homelessness by connecting them with appropriate housing and resources as quickly as possible. RIRAL’s free English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESL/ESOL) offer students from foreign countries an opportunity to learn English. Classes are divided into beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. ESOL classes prepare students to live, work and study in the United States. As ESOL students advance, they may transition into our adult basic and adult secondary education classes, college transition program, or a job training program.

Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Supplemental Feeding and Nutrition Program provides food vouchers, allowing them to purchase milk, eggs, cheese, juice and iron fortified cereals and formula. The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps low-income households with fuel bills during the winter. Eligible households receive a grant to help pay their heating bills. Grants are paid directly to the utility or fuel company. The program generally runs from mid-October thru April.

Services: Houses 29 families and 8 women daily. Shelter stays are limited to 90 days but can be renewed based on progress demonstrated by participants or impending permanent housing. Case managers assist participants with healthcare, employment and establishing permanent housing. Help also available for: mental health issues, addiction, developmental delays in children, parenting and domestic violence. Case managers access services directly through Family Resources Community Action Program or collaborative agreements with other local non profit organizations.
