A comprehensive, State licensed adult day care program to provide medical, social and rehabilitative services to chronically impaired elders and disabled adults. Services include: nursing supervision, personal care, counseling, caregivers support/respite, exercises, activities, specialized therapies and nutrition. The Adult Day Services Program provides an array of supportive services designed to upgrade and increase the activities of daily living for older persons dependent upon continual family support and supervision. The major goal of the program is to reduce the potential for institutionalization of dependent elderly individuals otherwise at risk, and to increase their quality of life through the enhancement of their activities of daily living. The program provides supervised supportive care for frail elderly persons to meet the needs of the functionally impaired individual. The program also provides respite and emotional support to family caregivers. Income Source: Towns of South Kingstown, Narragansett, R I Department of Elderly Affairs, R.I. Department of Human Services, client fees and private contributions.

The Wakefield Oasis is an affiliate of the Mental Health Consumer Advocates of Rhode Island, Inc. This non-profit statewide advocacy, education, and socialization center empowers adults who have experienced psychiatric symptoms or who receive mental health services. MHCA of RI, Inc., has been in operation since 1985. The vision of MHCA of RI, Inc., is to provide peer support, to inform and educate people about the stigma of mental illness and to positively affect the lives of our fellow consumes through legislative action and other advocacy campaigns.

Programs that pick up and impound or return to their owners domestic animals who have strayed from their homes. Also included are programs that enforce leash laws and animal sanitation ordinances and those that handle complaints regarding domestic animals who have bitten someone or are otherwise making nuisances of themselves. Most animal control programs are unable to handle nuisance wildlife unless the animal is sick or shows symptoms of rabies.

Free, confidential, one-to-one literacy tutoring in reading, writing and English to East Bay adults. We teach basic literacy skills, GED skills, and ESL (English as a Second Language) skills. Volunteers test and tutor students, serve on our board, maintain our mailing lists, man our computer lab and other tasks.

Recovery housing (sober living) for seven females located in Cranston. Residents are only responsible for their own clothing, medication, toiletries and dietary needs. Residents are subject to frequent, random drug testing.

Works to lead and influence change that improves the quality of life for Latinos in Rhode Island. CHisPA works with community groups, educational institutions, federal, state and local government units, foundations and corporations to improve opportunities for Latinos and other minority groups. Services and activities include Information and Referral, an alternative school for high risk youth, community education, leadership development and other capacity-building programs. CDC is one of the major operating components of the Department of Health and Human Services. CDC increases the health security of our nation. As the nation’s health protection agency, CDC saves lives and protects people from health threats.

They have a SHINE volunteer counselor to assist individuals and couples turning 65 or older with information on Medicare and appropriate health insurance programs for their needs and related health insurance matters. They have rotating local attorneys providing complimentary appointments one time per month, resource information for caregiving, and monthly appointments with the Town Nurse to check your blood pressure or assist with other questions. They also offer monthly appointments with providers in Reflexology, Reiki, Footcare and Manicures and Pedicures for a modest cost.

Services: Multi-service support agency for gay, lesbian, bisexual, questioning or transgendered youth, ages 13 - 22, at all stages of the coming out process. A 70 bed comprehensive inpatient/outpatient medical rehabilitation program, transitional care unit, neuro behavioral unit for stroke and brain injury patients, transitional living apartments, staff of specialized medical rehabilitation therapists and nursing professionals. Outpatient services available from both units. Stroke Specialty The Stroke Specialty Rehabilitation Program, a CARF recognized program, provides adults needing therapy to improve their function and quality of life. Our patients have been diagnosed with cerebral vascular accidents (CVA), intracranial hemorrhages, and thrombo/embolic strokes. Neurorehabilitation This program treats patients with diagnoses such as brain injury, Parkinson’s disease, spinal cord injury, and multiple sclerosis. Our dedicated staff work with patients to regain the skills to walk, communicate and live more independently. Our therapists also treat patients with cognitive and/or behavioral disabilities. Orthopedic Our rehabilitation program treats patients after hip fractures, joint replacement, and multiple trauma. We strive to always improve our therapy, and our orthopedic program’s innovations have been published in major rehabilitation journals. From low-impact workouts to relaxing yoga sessions, we offer activities that cater to all ages and fitness levels. Move it Monday- Join us for a weekly walk! Take in the fresh air, exercise, and work up an appetite for lunch. This class is on Monday at 11:30am. Yoga- Join us for a weekly yoga and breathing class. Relieve stress, build flexibility and strength, and have fun. Start Thursday, 2:00pm-4:00pm.

CCAP also offers a full range of behavioral health counseling for children, youth and adults to help develop healthy ways of coping with adversity and resolve problems that have created obstacles to leading full lives. In addition, CCAP provides substance use treatment, including Medication Assisted Treatment. Their staff of caring, experienced Licensed Independent Social Workers and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselors provide individual, couples, family and group therapy.

Methadone maintenance treatment, a program in which opioid dependent individuals receive daily doses of methadone.

Amicable Church hosts Sunday School for Pre-K to 12th Grade, and also singing and acting programs of C.O.R.E. (Creative Outreach Reinventing Expression), an after school arts program. Gloria Crist teaches acting classes and Vaughn Bryner teaches vocal performance classes as a part of this program.
