The Center also operates a meal site for senior citizens, and provides meals on wheels to a large number of individuals within the community.

The Center is a private, non-profit community focal point for residents of Newport County and surrounding communities where older persons can come together for services and/or activities which enhance their dignity, reflect their experience and skills, support their independence, encourage their involvement in and with the Center and the community, and respond to their diverse needs and interests. Aging Well, Inc. has provided services to seniors and adults with disabilities residing in Northern Rhode Island since 1975. In accordance with the Congregate Meal Program financed through a grant with R.I. Office of Healthy Aging, Senior Services, Inc. provides nutritionally balanced lunches five days a week at meal sites throughout northern R.I.

Capital City Cafes Senior meal program that provides hot nutritious meals to seniors. The program has eight cafes in Providence and one location in Cranston. Transportation is available by contacting the RIDE Program 800-479-6902 or LogistiCare 855-330-9131.

Sponsored by EBCAP and catered by Cranston Senior Center. Menus can be picked up at the Center or viewed on-line on the Town website and they can also be found in the monthly newsletter.

Lunch is served in the Parkside Dining Room at the Senior/Community Center. Those unable to pay will not be turned away. Meals are also available for home-bound neighbors weekdays with Meals on Wheels

The Food 4 Life program provides meals 7 days a week to people at various locations and shelters in the greater Providence area, Kent County and Northern Rhode Island. Our committed volunteers serve an average of 1,000 + meals per week.

Isolated seniors in our community often find it difficult to make or buy nutritious meals. They may also lack meaningful social interaction, which has been shown to improve quality of life and even extend lifespans. JCS’s Kosher Senior Cafés are designed to meet both needs. The Kosher Senior Cafés in Providence and Cranston offer delicious kosher lunches and an opportunity to socialize for older adults and those with disabilities. Activities and entertainment contribute to the fun social atmosphere, drawing participants into a vibrant community.

Senior Nutrition Program known as the Cafe. Offers two-three meal choices daily.Reservations are required.

The Cumberland Senior Center is committed to providing an array of quality services to enrich and educate their senior citizens. They encourage and assist individuals in achieving a lifestyle in which they can remain an active and productive member of the community. Services include day trips and exercise classes. Membership is $8 per year to join the Cumberland Senior Center. Non-residents' cost is $12 for the annual membership. Programs: a variety of educational, informational and recreational programs for seniors are offered through the year. Senior Van - transportation is available, including center pick-ups and drop-offs, for local shopping and appointments. Daily Lunches - $3 lunches are served daily at 11:30. Reservations are needed.

The Blackstone Café provides balanced and nutritional meals to disabled adults and seniors in a community dining setting. Supports seniors and those with disabilities by providing opportunities for socialization, recreation, nutrition, education, information and referral, volunteering, health & fitness and all aspects of social services. They offer a full calendar of activities, including card games, bocce, walking, arts & crafts, yoga, exercise, Zumba, line dancing, bocce, bingo, and gardening (seasonally). They sponsor multiple field trips per month and educational presentations. The Social Services Office provides a wide range of resources, help and services to members of their community including SNAP/EBT applications, housing applications, heating assistance, Medicare, property tax relief and other case-by-case needs. AARP Yearly Tax Preparation is held February through April, by appointment only.
