Elmwood Commons is a subsidized housing community. Most apartments have Section 8 contract rents – you must go to the office to fill out these applications in order to get on the wait lists. But we have a few apartments that are Low Income Housing Tax Credit Apartments with no rental subsidy. These units (1 & 2 br) are on West Ave in Pawtucket and (2br & 3br) are on Gilmore & Bridgham Streets in Providence. There are no other locations.

OSCIL works together with state and local government and public entities to eliminate architectural, communication, and attitudinal barriers. OSCIL has provided technical assistance to T.F. Greene Airport, area hospitals, Roger Williams Park, the Board of Canvassers, and many other private businesses and organizations to comply with the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) and Rhode Island Law 42-87-2. Individuals who experience barriers in the community, i.e. inaccessible restaurants, public events, schools, etc. are encouraged to call OSCIL for information and assistance. Part of OSCIL’s mission is to bring information to the community to help address barriers to independent living. This includes presentations on: -Assistive technology demonstrations -Barriers to effective communication -How Center services can help your independent living goals -Understanding nursing home transition -Utilizing telecommunication devices for the Deaf -How home modifications can increase access in a home -Young adult independent living skills training -Effective public testimony

Our Independent Living/Deaf Services Coordinator works one-on-one with consumers providing assistance in a variety of ways including: They teach consumers to advocate for themselves with tasks such as getting a sign language interpreter for appointments at doctor’s offices, hospitals, Social Security Offices, DHS offices, landlord’s offices etc; accessing community services, requesting reasonable accommodations and addressing general communication issues; provides services to obtain housing. Also provides assistance with bill/letter translation.

Mae’s housing program was established to empower the homeless population to escape the cycle of poverty. Their program has helped hundreds of families get established into a new home by giving them items including bed, kitchen tables, etc. Mae’s housing program helps families in need of establishing long-term residency by not only providing furniture, but also assisting with first month’s rent and deposit. We also house the homeless at motels during emergency situations and when shelter space is not available.

Westbay Farm is a three-acre farm, growing 15,000 pounds of organic vegetables each year. Its largest crops are lettuce, tomatoes, onions, potatoes, and squash. The farm provides fresh produce to the Westbay Marketplace food pantry, expanding the nutritious choices for our clients in Warwick, West Warwick and East Greenwich. Farm produce is also available to the public at our summer Farm Stands

Clarke School is a beautiful, affordable apartment community located in the heart of Newport's historic downtown. The building was originally a school built in 1915 and underwent a historic renovation in 1994 when it was developed into apartments. The location is ideal. It is within walking distance to Newport Harbor, shopping, restaurants and cultural events. This unique style of living is reserved for mature adults 55 or older, as well as Disabled individuals. Provide transitional programs for high school students and adults. Vocational Rehabilitation - BHDDH and ORS

Provides training for students in 12 technical career areas: academic instruction, shop and theory classes. Programs for special needs, ELL and 504 students are embedded within the school day. There are no after school courses for students but there are several afternoon school enrichment and sports programs offered.
