Neighbors Helping Neighbors Rhode Island is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families stay in their homes through a variety of ways, primarily by providing necessary home repairs and modifications.
NHN RI offers services including building wheelchair ramps, painting houses indoor or out, repairing porches or steps, patching roofs, and fixing windows. All of these can make real differences to neighbors in need. Necessary home repairs are often left undone when people are faced with the need to stretch their paycheck, disability check, or Social Security income. In some cases, completing this work is the only way people are able to stay in their homes and remain independent.

Work experiences provide youth with hands-on opportunities to develop the skills they will need upon entering the work force. Youth receive wages and other payments upon attaining certain benchmarks relative to their job performance. Youth also participate in a variety of career and personal development activities such as community service projects, field trips, post secondary exploration, and guest speakers from key RI industries.

The inpatient rehabilitation program at the Vanderbilt Rehabilitation Center is designed for patients who require intensive, interdisciplinary rehabilitation services in a hospital setting.
The acute inpatient rehabilitation unit has 12 beds in a beautiful facility with views of Newport from each room. The center’s highly qualified and dedicated staff employs an interdisciplinary team approach to care. Skilled services are provided in a 24-hour therapeutic environment with direct nursing care and intensive physician-directed therapy program which include therapies, education and training. The services are individually designed to address the special care needs, maximize the abilities and minimize the disabilities of each patient.
