The officers have received CPR, Automatic Emergency Defibrillator and first aid training. The Department has a complete Bureau Criminal Identification unit, a Traffic Accident Reconstructionist and a Tactical Special Response Team. Many officers are graduates of the University of Rhode Island Criminalist School, with training in scientific investigation, photography and fingerprinting. The Department can assist residents with employment fingerprint services, vin verification checks and car seat installation. FGP is the bridge that connects these generations and utilizes foster grandparents’ experiences and talents to improve the lives of children in their communities. The mission of FGP is to support positive outcomes for children in need by providing rewarding opportunities to income-eligible individuals ages 55 and older. Foster Grandparents are provided the opportunity to: -Help children learn to read -Provide one-on-one tutoring -Mentor Youth/Teenagers -Earn compensation for the time devoted to the program -Enjoy social interactions with others Foster Grandparents serve as role models, tutors, and friends to children needing additional support.
